Boulteen, Desertserges, County Cork
This is the area my family came from. In 1852, my great-great-grandfather, Michael Swanton, lived in Derrigra, just outside of Ballineen. On June 27, 1869, Michael's son, John, married Mary McCarthy in Dunmanway. John lived in Ballineen when he married Mary. Michael Swanton and his wife, Elizabeth Bradfield Swanton lived in Boulteen when my g-g-grandfather Robert was born on April 24, 1865.
Michael Swanton married Elizabeth Bradfield in the Roman Catholic church in Murragh in February, 1844. They lived at Boulteen Cross Roads. Michael ran a pound (for stray livestock?), and was a carpenter.
